The Ultimate Tenni Showdown (UTS) Tour, a new tennis competition with an innovative game management system, will be held in Korea for the first time in Asia.
The tour will be held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3 at the specially built 10,000-seat Ilsan Kintex Tennis Center. Top-ranked players on the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Tour, including Nick Kyrgios (Australia), Gael Montpellier (France), and Alexander Bublik (Kazakhstan), have confirmed their participation, as well as Korean No. 1 Kwon Sun-woo (Dangjin City Hall).체스카지노
The UTS Tour will feature a total of eight invited players, with the remaining four players to be announced over time.
The UTS Tour was founded in 2020 by Patrick Muratoglu, former coach of women’s tennis legend Serena Williams (USA) and current coach of men’s World No. 6 Holger Lune (DEN), after the coronavirus pandemic disrupted tour events.
The UTS Tour differs from traditional tennis tournaments in its fast-paced play and frenetic on-court atmosphere.
Matches are played for eight minutes per quarter, with a total of four quarters, and the winner of three quarters is the winner of the match, and in the event of a tie after two quarters, the first player to score two consecutive points wins in sudden death. Services will be alternated twice.
A 15-second shot clock for each point and the elimination of the second-serve rule allow for fast-paced, high-impact matches that last less than an hour, and players can play a bonus tactical card once per quarter to create drama.
During a three-minute end-change in each quarter, players wear headsets to interact with opponents, fans, and conduct brief interviews. It’s a real-time interaction between spectators and players.
The inaugural event was held in July in Los Angeles, USA, where Wu Yibing (China) defeated Taylor Fritz (USA) to win the title. The second event of the year will be held in Frankfurt, Germany in September, with Danil Medvedev (RUS) as a strong favorite.
At the conclusion of the third regular event in South Korea, eight players, including the winner of each event, will compete in the Grand Final in December.
Tennis court booking platform Pleasure is organizing the tournament, having secured a three-year rights to operate the event. Pleasure joined the Seoul Open Challenger as the main sponsor and operator in April this year and has been contributing to the growth of the domestic tennis market through its tennis lessons, court booking and facility management software as a service (SaaS).
Tickets for UTS Seoul will be available for purchase through Ticketlink starting August 28, with the exception of the All-Star match and private events on November 30, which will be available through the Flare application.
