The Pittsburgh Pirates have made changes to their roster.
The Pirates announced the following roster moves ahead of the team’s game against the San Diego Padres on Saturday (April 26).
Infielder Tukupita Makano, who tore a knee ligament while running the bases in the previous game, was immediately placed on the 60-day disabled list.
Normally, he would be moved to the 10-day disabled list and then to the 60-day list, but the team had to make room for his replacement on the 40-man roster, so he went straight to the 60-day disabled list.안전놀이터
The spot he vacated will be filled by another infielder, Alyssa Williams. Drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 37th pick in the first round of the 2020 draft, he was acquired by Pittsburgh in a trade last June in exchange for Robert Stephenson.
In 36 games at Triple-A Indianapolis since the move, he has shown promise, batting .305 with a .384 on-base percentage, .531 slugging percentage, seven home runs and 20 RBIs, earning him a chance to make his big league debut.
Will Crowe, who was designated for assignment, remained with the team. After clearing waivers, he accepted a minor league assignment and joined the Triple-A roster.
Third baseman Keebrian Hayes, who has been sidelined with a back injury, rejoined the Indianapolis organization today to begin a rehab assignment.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh announced the following lineup for today’s game: Conor Jo (left field), Brian Reynolds (center field), Andrew McCutchen (designated hitter), Carlos Santana (first base), Henry Davis (right field), Jared Triolo (third base), Nick Gonzalez (second base), Leover Peguero (shortstop), and Austin Hedges (catcher). Ji-Man Choi will start off the bench.
