The first half ended on a high note.
Infielder Choi Ji-Man (32-Pittsburgh Pirates) showed off his hot bat. Choi started in the No. 5 and designated hitter spots against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Went 2-for-4 with a game-winning home run, two doubles, two RBIs and one run scored. Choi raised his season batting average from .125 to .159 (7-for-44). The team also snapped a four-game losing streak. They went 4-2. At 41-49, they’re in fourth place in the National League Central.스포츠토토
Upon returning to the field, he was on fire. He went 0-for-4 in his first game. In his second game, he lived up to the hype by getting a hit. The day started off with a bang. Trailing 0-1 in the top of the second inning, he stole a home run off opposing starter Zach Davies with the bases loaded. He saw a 143-mile-per-hour fastball in the middle of the strike zone and took full advantage. As he rounded the bases and crossed home plate, he performed his signature gesture, pointing to the sky with his left hand. It’s been about three months. In the bottom of the ninth, he exploded again. With the bases loaded, he hit a double to right-center field.
It’s been a season full of twists and turns. He came to Pittsburgh via trade last November. He had a disagreement with the club over his salary. Choi wanted $5.4 million, while Pittsburgh offered $4.65 million. They couldn’t reach an agreement and went to arbitration. In the end, Choi lost and received a salary of $4.65 million. In addition to not being able to play in the World Baseball Classic (WBC), Choi has been plagued by injuries since the beginning of the season, including a torn Achilles tendon in his left foot.
Choi is Choi. He hasn’t played many games yet, but he’s certainly made an impact. The most impressive aspect of his game is his long ball. Five of his seven hits this season have been long balls. The most home runs in a season for Choi is 19, which he hit in 2019. He didn’t have the best first half of the season, but if he keeps this up, the second half will be even better.
