Bayern Munich have made it clear that they want Tottenham striker Harry Kane and have promptly handed Spurs an increased transfer offer.
Kane, who has played for Spurs since 2012 and has been a regular since the 2014/15 season, has spent 11 seasons with the club, scoring 280 goals in 435 official appearances. In the Premier League in particular, he is second all-time in that category with 213 goals in 317 games.
But without a single trophy to show for it, he’s suffering from an irrelevance nightmare that goes far beyond Tottenham, where he’s been called the Premier League’s “Living Legend.
With Tottenham set to end the 2022/23 season in eighth place in the league and failing to qualify for UEFA’s major competitions, Kane has been repeatedly linked with a move away in the summer transfer window.
While it has been reported that chairman Daniel Levy and the Spurs hierarchy could keep Kane until the end of his contract, it has also been suggested that Spurs could sell him for a hefty transfer fee if a club outside of the Premier League were to make a bid for him.
One of the teams most interested in Kane’s situation was Munich. With Tottenham having made it clear that they have no intention of selling to a Premier League club, the Bavarians have taken note of Kane’s potential move abroad.
The Bavarians are in desperate need of a frontline striker ahead of the 2023/24 season, with the likes of Serge Gnabry and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting struggling up front after the departure of their ace Robert Lewandowski.
As recently as May, German media outlets suggested that Kane’s arrival was unlikely, with reports claiming that “Munich had been in contact with Kane’s father and had decided that he did not want to leave England.” However, recent reports suggesting that Munich have renewed their interest in Kane and that he has given the green light to a move to Munich have resurfaced.
Kane has given the green light to a move to Munich, a club with a history of winning trophies, after his original suitors, Manchester United and Real, fell through, and has communicated his desire to join the Bavarians through his brother and agent, Charlie Kane.
Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sports Germany who is well versed in Munich news, said: “Munich are pushing for Kane’s signature following his positive signals. My transfer depends on Kane. Kane has to tell the club if he wants to join Munich. Munich is now ready to pay his transfer fee,” and reported on Munich’s intentions.
The Bavarians didn’t stop there, however, and made a formal offer for the player. According to British outlet The Athletic, “Munich have submitted a formal offer for Kane. The bid is valued at €70 million with options. Kane has one year left on his current deal with Tottenham,” referring to the level of Munich’s initial offer.
Initially, Tottenham were said to be looking for a fee in the region of 100 million euros ($142.5 billion) from foreign clubs for Kane, so it was analyzed that Munich’s first offer was unlikely to be accepted straight away.
As expected, Tottenham rejected Munich’s first offer, leading some media outlets to report that Tottenham would not sell Kane for any amount.
Some Tottenham fans reacted to Munich’s initial offer with comments such as “Munich would feel insulted if Tottenham made an offer like this”, “Well done Munich. Now he won’t leave,” “How much are you going to offer for Kane’s other foot?” and “You have to be kidding me,” were some of the reactions to Munich’s transfer offer, calling it ridiculous.
Tottenham’s rejection, however, did not deter Munich from pursuing the player. Sky Sports Germany reported on Monday that “Munich are preparing a new offer for Kane. The race for Kane is entering its second round,” Sky Sports Germany reported.
“Munich will start bidding for Tottenham from £80 million,” said British outlet The Sun, “and will test Tottenham’s resolve with this offer.”
Following The Sun, other local British media outlets such as Metro also reported that “Munich are set to make an £80 million offer,” suggesting that Spurs’ resolve could be shaken by a second assault from Germany’s top club.
“Munich coach Thomas Tuchel told Kane: ‘Together we can win the UEFA Champions League,'” the Metro reported. The Bavarians want Kane to tell Tottenham that he wants to move to Munich,” adding that they hope he will help them in the transfer talks.메이저사이트
Despite Levy’s vow not to sell Kane, Tottenham could be tempted to do so if Munich continue to raise their asking price.
After this summer, they will have to let Kane go for free, and selling him would allow them to invest in rebuilding their squad with a huge transfer fee.
With this in mind, Munich will likely increase their asking price slightly to see if Spurs are willing, and then move forward with their plans to sign Kane.
Meanwhile, if Kane is able to leave Tottenham and head to Munich, he will likely be paired with the South Korean national team defender.
The Bavarians have been working on signing Kim Min-jae since the potential departure of their first-choice defender this summer, and have been in contact with his representatives to offer him a contract and team projects.
Munich’s active courtship attracted Kim, and now leading journalists and media outlets are reporting that a move to Munich is imminent. Some German media outlets have even reported that the two clubs have agreed on a contract and set a date for the buyout payment. Unless something drastic happens, Kim will likely join Munich.
If Kim and Kane sign together, we could see the Premier League’s best striker and Serie A’s best defender combine to dominate the Bundesliga and Champions League.
